The Birim South District Assembly, in collaboration with the District Health Directorate on Friday, 19th June 2026, organized a ceremony to commission and officially hand over a newly constructed Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) Compound as well as a renovated office building for the District Health Directorate. The event marked a significant milestone in the Assembly’s efforts to improve healthcare delivery and strengthen the health infrastructure within the district.

The programme brought together key stakeholders, including the District Chief Executive (DCE), the District Coordinating Director (DCD), traditional authorities, heads of departments, health professionals, assembly members, community leaders, and members of the public. The gathering reflected the collective commitment of stakeholders towards enhancing access to quality healthcare services for residents of the district.
The ceremony commenced with an opening prayer, followed by a welcome address by the District Chief Executive (DCE). In the address, appreciation was expressed to the Government, the Birim South District Assembly, development partners, and all individuals who contributed to the successful completion of the projects.

The District Chief Executive emphasized the government’s commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure and ensuring equitable access to health services. He stated that the completion of the projects demonstrated the Assembly’s dedication to promoting the welfare of residents through improved social services. He encouraged healthcare workers to make good use of the facilities and continue providing quality healthcare services to the public.

The Health Director highlighted the importance of the newly built CHPS compound in bringing healthcare services closer to the people, particularly mothers, children, and vulnerable groups within the beneficiary community. The Director also noted that the renovation of the District Health Directorate building would provide a more conducive working environment for staff and improve administrative efficiency.

Representatives of the traditional authorities and community members expressed their gratitude to the Assembly and all stakeholders for the projects. They indicated that the CHPS compound would significantly reduce the distance travelled by residents to access healthcare services and would contribute to better health outcomes in the area. They further pledged their support towards maintaining the facilities to ensure their sustainability.
The highlight of the programme was the official commissioning and handing over of the facilities. The District Chief Executive, together with other dignitaries, unveiled the commemorative plaque and formally handed over the keys to the District Health Directorate. This was followed by a tour of both the newly constructed CHPS compound and the renovated District Health Directorate building, during which participants inspected the facilities and expressed satisfaction with the quality of work executed.
