PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES (PWDs) SUPPORTED IN THE BIRIM SOUTH DISTRICT ASSEMBLY FOR THE 2ND QUARTER OF 2026

The Birim South District Assembly through the Social Welfare & Community Development Department on Tuesday, 19th May 2026, presented funds and items to some PWDs in the District.

This act depicts the Government of Ghana’s commitment in economically empowering Persons Living with Disabilities. The Government of Ghana has set up the Disability Common Fund to support Persons with Disabilities (PWDs). The Disability Common Fund, which is currently 3% allocation of the District Assembly Common Fund, seeks to support income generating activities as a means of empowering PWDs economically, provide educational support as well as health care support in order to improve the living conditions of PWDs.

The District Chief Executive, Hon. Taaju Abdu Rahim led in the presentation of these Items; Deep Freezers, Agriculture Power Sprayer and Cash for the PWDs.

In His speech, Hon. Taaju urged the PWDs to put this support into income generation activities that can yield profit for them to cater for their upkeep and assured them of Governments support to ensure they are also well taken care of.
